Sports fans in Bryan and College Station might know the name Dalonte Hill. He is the assistant coach for Maryland's basketball team. And, as of recently, he is also one of the many people who get arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The details of how and when Hill was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence are not yet known, although he was arrested for DUI in 2008 when he was an assistant coach at Kansas State.

The Maryland athletic department is looking into the matter and has not yet reached a decision, although Hill will sit out the next two games. The athletic department said it would only reach a final decision once all the facts are known, which is a prudent and reasonable way to look at things in this situation.

Once again, we have a case of someone who perhaps should have known better. On the other hand, it is not inconceivable that Hill thought he was okay to drive, or that he did not realize he had had too much to drink because it is not always easy to tell.

It is very important that you are careful when you drive after you have been drinking, but as Hill's case shows, mistakes can sometimes get made. If you get arrested on suspicion of DUI, it might be worth your while to obtain the assistance of an attorney who regularly helps people in situations like yours. If you made a mistake, it is only fair you should pay for it, but it would not be fair if you wound up paying more than you had to.
