Police say that a Galveston man was drunk when he struck two men with his car, killing them. The 27-year-old man now faces felony DUI charges in connection with the incident. The story is a sobering reminder for Texas A&M students about why they need to be very careful when they are driving after having had a drink or two; not only do you run the risk of getting into a lot of trouble, but you're potentially jeopardizing the lives of innocent Bryan and College Station residents who might be unfortunate to be in your path.

The driver and his passenger were also injured after the collision, but both were taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and are now listed in stable condition. As soon as the man is discharged from the hospital, he will be taken to Galveston County Jail.

Residents of the area where the crash occurred -- Galveston's popular seawall -- have said the accident makes them cautious now and some are even pondering taking their evening constitutionals somewhere else.

Now, we aren't bringing you this story to vilify the man who is now facing felony DUI charges. We are bringing it to you to show you what the consequences of drinking and driving can be. Of course, an outcome like this is not the way every instance of driving after having had too much to drink turns out, but it's a possibility, and possibilities like this are why you need to be really careful.
