48-year-old Bryan man has been arrested after an unusual chain of events that began Monday afternoon and culminated with him being taken to jail on suspicion of DUI.

According to Bryan police, offices were patrolling the 300 block of West Dodge Street around 2:30 p.m. Monday when they were flagged down by the man. (It isn't know n why the man was trying to flag the officers down.)

The man exited his vehicle to come and talk to the officers, but he didn't realize his pickup truck was still in reverse.

According to the police report filed over the incident, a driver who was behind the man's truck also had to put his vehicle in reverse so that he would not get hit.

The man's vehicle came to a stop after a Bryan police officer reached inside the can and put it in park.

Apparently, the man had two children in the vehicle when it started to travel backward.

Officers claimed to have found a cup of beer in his truck. Supposedly, the man told officers he had 12 beers over the course of an hour.

The man was taken to Brazos County Jail and will likely be charged with driving while intoxicated with an open container in the vehicle. If that is indeed the charge and if he is found guilty, he could be fined up to $2,000 and might have to spend as much as 180 days in jail.
